Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. After relocating to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma had a dream to become an actor from the age of six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school which offers classes for part-time students. At the age of 10, she had already taken part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight consecutive auditions.
